Every Sunday when I was growing up in South America Guyana, we got together as a family and choppped, peeled, and diced vegetables. Now that my son, Joseph 9, is getting older, I try to continue the tradition of spending time with family on weekends. Joseph in very much into cooking and likes hanging out with me in the kitchen while I am cooking.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a wonderful tradition for the entire family to spend time in the kitchen cooking. I believe that to many times we all go off in our own directions and lose sight of what is important in our lives. Family is very important and a TV show or a video game will wait.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great plan. It wasn't a tradition in my home but from as young as 6, I was helping my parents cook. As a result, me and my two siblings new how to cook even complex meals by our teen years.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, those moments led to many memories and in-depth discussions.
I have had the pleasure to teach both of my sons how to cook. I never wanted them to depend on anyone but themselves to eat.

ReplyDeletemy son is five and loves to help me in the kitchen. I plan to teach him how to prepare meals just like my mother has shown me. Every Sunday she would cook a feast and still does to this day. I love going to my Mothers house on Sunday's
